Statzer, Kozusko lead Rock past West Chester, 8-4

Philippi, W. Va. - Senior shortstop Nathan Statzer was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and senior center fielder Matt Kozusko added a pair of hits and three RBIs to lead The Rock to an 8-4 win over West Chester in a dual of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and NCAA Division II North Atlantic Regional contenders.

The win improved SRU's record to 2-1 and avenged a season-opening 3-0 loss to the Golden Rams one day earlier.

Junior first baseman Billy Wolfe also had three hits for The Rock.

Kozusko, Statzer and Wolfe had a double each to account for SRU's extra-base hits.

Junior right-hander John Katich was the starting and winning pitcher. He allowed one earned run on three hits, struck out four and walked four.

Junior right-hander Nick Armstrong allowed three earned runs on three hits, struck out one and walked two in the final 1 1/3 innings and was credited with a save.

The Rock iced the win with six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, keyed by two-run singles by Kozusko and Statzer.
