Unearned runs send Rock down to defeat

Fort Myers, Fla. - Bloomfield (N.J.) College scored three unearned runs to hand The Rock a 3-2 setback.

The loss dropped The Rock to 10-6 overall and 8-4 on its annual spring trip.

Sophomore right-hander Adam Ritts pitched first seven innings and was tagged with the hard-luck loss. Junior right-hander Joe Petti pitched the final two innings.

The Rock committed four errors in the game, but equally importantly left eight runners on base including a runner in scoring position in each of the final four innings.

Senior third baseman Chase Rowe had three of The Rock's seven hits.

The Rock closes out its spring trip with single games against national powers Ashland (9 a.m.) and UMass-Lowell (3 p.m.).

The Rock is scheduled to open its 2004 home schedule on Thursday, April 18, with a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Jack Critchfield Park against Point Park College.
