Senior left fielder Ben Marzullo hit a three-run home run and senior second baseman Trent Berner and senior center fielder Matt Kozusko each hit a two-run blast Saturday afternoon to lead the seventh-ranked Rock to a 12-4 win over hosting Alderson-Broaddus College in an NCAA Division II North Atlantic Regional contest.
The win evened The Rock's record at 1-1.
Berner's home run in the bottom of the second inning put The Rock on top, 2-1.
Kozusko's fourth-inning blast tied the score at 4-4.
Marzullo's shot pushed The Rock to a 7-4 advantage in the fifth inning.
Marzullo and senior catcher Joe Pascarella had a pair of hits in a nine-hit Rock attack.
The Rock padded its margin with five runs in the sixth innings.
Redshirt freshman southpaw Colin Scott was the winning pitcher in relief of starter Rocky D'Angelo.
Scott allowed two hits and struck out three in three innings of work.
D'Angelo allowed all four Alderson-Broaddus runs on four hits, struck out six and walked four in four innings.
The Rock looks to avenge a 3-0 season-opening loss on Saturday when it takes on West Chester at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
SRU will close out its weekend schedule with a 4 p.m. game against Alderson-Broaddus before turning its sights towards the annual spring-break trip to Florida, which starts Wednesday.
