Rock falls to California, 83-69

Slippery Rock, Pa. - The Rock dropped an 83-69 decision to visiting California U. of Pa. on Wednesday and, in the process, was eliminated from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoff hunt.

The loss dropped The Rock to 7-19 overall, 4-7 in PSAC-Western Division action, and one game behind Clarion in the chase for the division's fourth and final playoff berth.

California, with the win, improved to 21-5 and 10-1 and clinched the PSAC-West title.

Junior forward Jason Taylor scored a game-high 15 points for The Rock, while sophomore center Glenn Reepmeyer added 10.

SRU trailed by seven, 45-38, at halftime and made several runs at the Vulcans in the final 20 minutes before falling short.

The Rock will close out its 2003-04 season on Saturday with a 3 p.m. road game at PSAC-West rival Lock Haven.
