The Rock fell to 0-9 on the year when it dropped a 77-68 overtime decision Thursday night to Fairmont State in opening-night action of the Main Street Classic in Wheeling, W. Va.
The Rock's Bill Johnson led all scorers with 28 points, which matched his career-best total. He also handed out five assists.
Mason Glick added 11 points and six assists, while Dejan Jancic scored a season-high 10 points in a substitute role and Glenn Reepmeyer scored nine points and had eight rebounds.
Freshman guard John Kearney handed out five assists in his first collegiate start.
SRU led by 14 points in the first half and held an 11-point (33-22) advantage at halftime.
The Rock held a 65-57 lead with 1:34 left to play before Fairmont State scored seven unanswered points to send the game into overtime. Fairmont State then held The Rock without a field goal in the extra stanza to improve its record to 4-1.
The Rock returns to action at 4 p.m. on Friday when it will take on Wheeling Jesuit.
The Rock then travels to Bloomsburg for a 7:30 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" game on Tuesday, Jan. 4, before hosting PSAC interdivisional rivals Cheyney and Millersville on Jan. 8-9 in Morrow Field House.
