Bill Johnson scored 20 points and Glenn Reepmeyer added a "double-double" with 13 points and 10 rebounds Wednesday night in The Rock's 79-52 loss to Mercyhurst.
The loss came in SRU's home opener and dropped The Rock's record to 0-8.
Mercyhurst, coached by former SRU graduate assistant coach Gary Manchel, improved its record to 6-6.
John Marhefka's Rock squad will seek its first win of the season on Dec. 30 when it takes on Fairmont State (W. Va.) at 6 p.m. in opening-night action of the Wheeling Jesuit tournament.
Mercyhurst scored the first 11 points of the game Wednesday night and never led by less than nine points thereafter.
The Lakers held a 39-25 lead at halftime. The final margin was the largest lead of the game for the visitors.
The Rock shot 29.2 percent (7 of 24) from the field in the first half and 34.6 percent (9 of 26) in the final 20 minutes to finish the game with a 32 percent efficiency.
Mercyhurst shot 47.1 percent (16 of 34) from the field in the opening half and 53.3 percent (16 of 30) in the final half to finish with a 50 percent efficiency.
