Dec. 11, 2004

Final Stats

Glenville, W. Va. - Bill Johnson scored 26 points, two shy of his career-high total, to lead a losing cause Saturday night as The Rock dropped an 80-61 decision at Glenville (W. Va.) State College.

The loss in the consolation game of the GSC/Theras-Pro tournament dropped The Rock's record to 0-6 this winter.

Glenville State improved to 4-2 with the win.

The Rock played the final 13-plus minutes of the first half without leading scorer and rebounder Glenn Reepmeyer after he was called for three personal fouls in the first six minutes of action.

Reepmeyer, who entered the game averaging 18.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, scored eight points and had four rebounds in 26 minutes of action and did not foul out of the game.

The Rock trailed by a 10-8 score when Reepmeyer exited the game at the 13:40 mark of the first half. Glenville State took advantage of his absence to open up a 10-point, 44-34, advantage by halftime.

The Rock never seriously challenged in the final 20 minutes of action.

Dejan Jancic took advantage of extended playing time in Reepmeyer's absence to score nine points and grab seven rebounds. Ben Daniels, who made his first start of the season, added eight points.

IN addition to Reepmeyer, The Rock played Saturday night without two other starters. Junior guard Jason Bratten did not play at all after he injured an ankle the night before in SRU's loss to Mars Hill (N.C.). Senior captain Mason Glick was injured midway through the first half Saturday and played only 11 minutes.

SRU, an NCAA Division II competitor, will seek that elusive first win of the season next Saturday, Dec. 18, when it travels to Loretto, Pa., to take on NCAA Division I foe Saint Francis of Pa. in a 7 p.m. game.
