Strong second half carries Rock past Lock Haven

Slippery Rock, Pa. - The Rock scored 40 second-half points Saturday afternoon to erase a 25-18 halftime deficit and record a 58-51 win over visiting Lock Haven in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-WEstern Division action in Morrow Field House.

The win was The Rock's second straight and moved SRU back over the .500 mark to 10-9 overall and 3-2 in PSAC-West action.

Lock Haven fell to 7-12, 1-5.

Junior forward Stacey Green led the winning effort with a game-high 17 points, five rebounds and four assists. Sophomore shooting guard Kristen Bonner added 16 points, while junior center Erin Frankovich had nine points and team-high six rebounds and sophomore point guard Amber McFeely scored seven points and handed out nine assists.

The Rock shot 65 percent (13 of 20) from the field in the final 20 minutes after hitting 38 percent (8 of 21) in the first half. SRU was also 12 of 14 (86 percent) from the foul line.

The Rock returns to action on Wednesday, when it will travel to PSAC-West-leading California U. of Pa. -- the No. 1-ranked team in the nation -- for a 6 p.m. contest.
