Junior guard Jajuan Davis nailed a 3-pointer jumper from deep in the corner with 0.3 seconds left to play Wednesday night to give The Rock a heartstopping 61-60 win over archrival Indiana U. of Pa. in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action in Morrow Field House.
Davis scored a game-high 15 points , while senior forward Jerome Smalls chipped in 10 points and a game-high 15 rebounds for The Rock, which improved its overall record to 5-13 and evened its PSAC-West mark at 2-2.
Indiana dropped to 12-6, 2-3.
The Rock led by five, 33-28, at halftime before Indiana scored the first 10 points of the second half to take a 40-33 lead with 14:45 left to play.
The Rock trimmed the deficit to one point, 43-42, at the 10:16 mark but did not completely erase the Indians' lead until Davis hit a 3-pointer at the six-minute mark to draw The Rock even at 54-54.
Freshman guard Justen Stubblefield's jumper with 0:55 left tied the score at 58-58 before Gary Franklin sank a pair of free throws with 0:19 left to put Indiana up by two points, 60-58, and set up Davis' game-winning shot.
The Rock dominated the backboards to the tune of a 48-32 rebounding advantage against the taller Indians.
SRU will host Lock Haven at 3 p.m. Saturday in another PSAC-West contest in Morrow Field House.
