Rock snaps six-game skid, wins at Shippensburg

Shippensburg, Pa. - Senior forward Jerome Smalls recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds to lead The Rock to a 70-57 win over hosting Shippensburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.

The win snapped a six-game losing streak for The Rock and improved SRU's records to 4-12 overall, 1-1 in PSAC-West play. Shippensburg dropped to 8-8, 0-1.

Junior guard Bill Johnson was The Rock's leading scorer with 14 points, while Smalls and sophomore guard Shaun Grill each had 13 points. Sophomore center Glenn Reepmeyer grabbed 10 rebounds.

SRU won the rebounding duel by a 53-40 margin to offset 23 turnovers.

The Rock led by 14 points, 37-23, at halftime and held off a Red Raiders rally.

The Rock returns to action at 8 p.m. on Wednesday when it will host Clarion in a PSAC-West game in Morrow Field House.
