Slippery Rock, Pa. -
Sophomore guard Shaun Grill's career-high 22 points, including five 3-pointers, went for naught as The Rock dropped a 96-73 decision to visiting Millersville in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" game in Morrow Field House.
The loss was the sixth straight for The Rock, which dropped to 1-6 on the year.
The Rock were guided Saturday by assistant coach Anthony Hall, who assumed the reins in the absence of second-year head coach John Marhefka.
Coach Marhefka was hospitalized Friday night after being injured in a two-car automobile accident on his way home from The Rock's game vs. West Chester. Coach Marhefka is expected to make a full recovery.
Junior forward Jason Taylor added 10 points and nine rebounds in a supporting role Saturday, while junior guard Jajuan Davis also had 10 points.
Millersville, an NCAA Division II regional competitor a year ago, led by seven points (44-37) at halftime before taking firm control of the game in the second half.
The Rock is idle until December 16, when it will host Bloomsburg in a 7 p.m. PSAC "crossover" game in Morrow Field House. SRU entertains East Stroudsburg in another PSAC "crossover" game the following evening.
