West Chester overcame an 11-point deficit in the final four-plus minutes of regulation time to hand The Rock a 77-75 setback in overtime in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference interdivisional game at Morrow Field House.
The loss was fourth straight for The Rock, which dropped to 1-5 on the year. West Chester improved its record to 3-1.
The Rock held an eight-point, 42-34, lead at halftime and extended its margin to 18 points, 57-39, seven minutes into the second half before West Chester began its comeback.
The Golden Rams, aftet trailing by a 65-54 margin with 4:27 left in regulation time, had a chance to win the game with 0:12 left but a missed free throw attempt by Kofi Danquah sent the game into overtime.
The Rock never led in the extra stanza and trailed by four points on two occasions.
Junior guard Bill Johnson led The Rock in scoring with 24 points, sophomore guard Shaun Grill added 13 points and four assists and junior forward Jason Taylor had 10 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Dave Johnson had a team-high eight rebounds, while senior forward Jerome Smalls added six rebounds.
SRU will host Millersville in another PSAC "crossover" game at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
