Rock tumbles, 106-69, at Youngstown State

Dec. 3, 2003

Box Score

Youngstown, Ohio - Slippery Rock stayed with NCAA Division I Youngstown State for the first 14 minutes Wednesday night before the Penguins (2-4) pulled away for an easy 106-69 win in a non-conference game at Beeghley Center.

The Rock (1-4) held a 29-28 lead with six minutes left in the first half but then did not score a point for a span of over three minutes. YSU took advantage of that drought to score 15 unanswered points and never led by less than 10 points thereafter.

Junior forward Jason Taylor was The Rock's leading scorer with 13 points. Senior forward Jerome Smalls had 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds in a substitute role, while freshman guard Justen Stubblefield also scored 12 points off the bench. Junior guard Jajuan Davis scored 11 points.

The Rock returns to action at 8 p.m. Friday when it will take on West Chester in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference interdivisional game in Morrow Field House.

SRU entertains Millersville in another PSAC "crossover" game at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
