Ashland, Ohio - The Rock saw its modest two-game win streak come to an abrupt end Sunday night as it dropped a 101-67 decision to hosting Ashland University in the opening round of the AmeriHost Tournament.

The loss dropped The Rock to 3-7 on the year and into the 6 p.m. consolation game Monday against Lincoln Memorial College of Illinois, an 89-70 loser to St. Joseph's College in the other opening-round game Sunday.

Senior guard Dave Johnson scored a team-high 14 points, junior guard Jajuan Davis added 13 points and sophomore forward Glenn Reepmeyer chipped in 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds in the losing cause.

Ashland led by 13 points, 46-33, at halftime before outscoring SRU by a 55-34 margin in the final 20 minutes.

The Rock played the game without second leading scorer and top rebounder Jason Taylor, who did not rejoin the team following the Christmas holiday break. Taylor averaged 11 points and eight rebounds in the first eight Rock games this winter.
