Junior guard Bill Johnson scored a game-high 26 points to lead The Rock to its second successive win, a 78-70 triumph over East Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference interdivisional action at Morrow Field House.
Sophomore guard Shaun Grill added 16 points, senior forward Jerome Smalls had 10 points and sophomore forward Glenn Reepmeyer grabbed a game-high nine rebounds in the winning effort.
The Rock is now 3-6 as it prepares for a 10-day break. SRU returns to action on Dec. 28 when it will take on the host team at 8 p.m. in the first round of the AmeriHost Classic hosted by Ashland (Ohio) University.
The Rock led almost the entire game, but did not have a comfortable lead until the final minutes.
East Stroudsburg led 6-5 after two minutes of action, but The Rock erased that deficit and remained in the lead throughout the final 18 minutes of the first half en route to a 36-32 halftime advantage.
The next ESU lead came with 7:00 left to play when the Warriors took a 58-57 lead; the final Warriors lead was a 60-59 advantage with five minutes left.
The Rock outscored their guests by a 17-6 margin in the next four minutes to lock up the win.
