ERie, Pa. - Jerome Smalls scored 14 points, Shaun Grill added 11 and Jason Taylor grabbed a team-high six rebounds in The Rock's 74-41 loss to the host team in opening-round action of the Mercyhurst College tournament.

The Rock (1-1) will play West Virginia Tech at 6 p.m. on Saturday in the consolation game.
