Jess Verbic came off the bench to help lead the Slippery Rock University lacrosse team to one of the biggest wins in program history when it upset No. 6 Mercyhurst University last week. Playing in her first game of the season, Verbic scored two goals, including the game-winning strike, in The Rock’s 11-9 victory against Mercyhurst. The win was SRU’s first against Mercyhurst in the program’s history.
