On the brink of having its season cut short, the Slippery Rock University men’s soccer team swept a pair of games on the final weekend of the season to qualify for the PSAC Tournament thanks to the play of Rock senior forward Stephen Donnelly. In two games, Donnelly scored four goals, including both game-winners, and placed five of his 11 total shots on goal.
Â
Donnelly started the weekend by giving The Rock a 2-1 lead, which they would hold for the rest of the game, with his goal in the 50th minute against East Stroudsburg. He followed that performance up by producing three goals in SRU’s 3-0 win at West Chester to close the regular season. Donnelly’s hat trick was the first of his collegiate career. His outstanding offensive weekend pushed him up to 10th all-time in SRU history in points scored and ninth in career goals.

With four goals on the week, Donnelly moves into sole-possession of second place in the PSAC in goals scored and third in total points this fall.
