Kevin Jewel was the final SRU Athlete of the Week for the 2012-13 year. Jewel won his third PSAC individual title and his fourth and fifth overall PSAC titles to help The Rock to a second-place finish at the PSAC Championships. He won the 800-meter run in dominant fashion with a time of 1:50 and ran a 1:53 split to anchor the school-record setting and PSAC champion 4x800-meter relay. He followed that performance by earning All-America honors with a national runner-up finish at the National Championships with a PSAC all-time record of 1:49.09.
