Jewel broke his own SRU school record in the 800-meter run with an NCAA automatic qualifying time of 1:49.82 to win the Ashland Alumni Open. The mark is the second automatic qualifier Jewel has run this season and the second time under 1:50. He broke the record earlier this year with a time of 1:49.86.
