Alex Pennington enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Slippery Rock field hockey team in 2025.
 
CAREER AT A GLANCE
• Brings over six seasons of collegiate coaching experience on the Division I and II levels to The Rock, primarily working with defense and goalkeepers.
• Spent three years at Division I Bucknell, helping to guide the Bison to three Patriot League Tournament appearances, 21 victories and a .404 winning percentage.
• Bucknell ranked third in the Patriot League in Goals Against Average in both of Pennington’s last two seasons.
• Prior to her arrival at Bucknell, Pennington spent one year at Shippensburg where she was a member of a Red Raider coaching staff that won the 2021 NCAA Division II National Championship after posting a perfect 20-0 record.
• Oversaw Shippensburg’s goalkeepers and defense that led the nation in GAA (0.60) and total shutouts (12) with no opponent scoring more than one goal on Shippensburg during its championship run.
• First gained collegiate coaching experience as a graduate assistant at Coker University. Helped to lead Coker to a 16-9 record over her two years in Hartsville, South Carolina with one South Atlantic Conference title.

ATHLETIC CAREER
• Played collegiately for four seasons (2015-18) at Ohio University.
• Started 33 of 45 career games played for the Bobcats.
• Ended career with 11 wins, five shutouts, 222 saves, a .705 save percentage and a 2.16 GAA.
 
PERSONAL
• Native of Easton, Pennsylvania.
• Graduated from Ohio with a bachelor's in athletic training and a minor in applied nutrition.
• Earned master’s in college athletic administration from Coker.
