Chris Van Alstyne

    Strength and Conditioning Coach

Van Alstyne joined the SRU coaching staff as a strength and conditioning coach and a volunteer assistant prior to the 2018-19 academic year.

He works full-time at Allegheny College, where he is in his second year as the director of peak performance, a role that sees him overseeing the strength and conditioning program for Allegheny Athletics. 

Prior to joining the staff at The Rock, Van Alstyne spent just over three years at Hamilton College, where he served as the full-time strength and conditioning coach for Hamilton's NCAA Division III athletics program.

At Hamilton, Van Alstyne worked with 29 varsity athletic teams and helped to develop nine All-Americans, 62 All-Conference athletes and the Division III National Hockey Player of the Year.

A 2013 graduate from the State University of New York at Cortland, Van Alstyne received his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and fitness development. He is currently on track to earn his master's degree in Public Health from Slippery Rock in 2021. 

In addition to his collegiate athletics work, Van Alstyne has numerous years of experience working as a personal trainer and athletic performance coach.
