Brianne Dishong

Brianne Dishong

Brianne Dishong will join the sports information office as a graduate assistant for the 2013 spring semester. Dishong will assist with the coverage of track and field and will be the primary contact for softball.

Dishong earned her undergraduate communications degree in emerging technology from Slippery Rock in 2011 and was the graduate assistant coach with the women's lacrosse team in 2012. She will complete a master's degree in parks and resource management in May, 2013.

She returns to the sports information office after working as a student-assistant at SRU during her undergraduate career.

A native of Stow, Ohio, Dishong is one of the most decorated lacrosse defenders to play at Slippery Rock. She was the first player at SRU to earn All-Region honors after the program was reinstated in 2007. She was also the first two-time first team All-PSAC selection for the program.

A team captain and school record holder in ground balls and caused turnovers, Dishong had her senior season cut short by a knee injury. Despite torn ligaments in her knee, she missed just four games and returned to action to close out the year on the field.

For her career, Dishong picked up 130 ground balls and caused 82 turnovers, both of which ranked her among the top 20 players in Division II during her four-year career.
