Slippery Rock alumna and former distance runner Becky Younger returned to The Rock as a volunteer assistant coach in 2020 when she began academic work in the SRU Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
Younger first graduated from Slippery Rock 2011 with a degree in athletic training after spending four years on the cross country and track and field teams. She was a six-time PSAC qualifier in track and field and was a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree in cross country.
After graduating from Slippery Rock, Younger went on to earn her master's degree in physical education from the University of South Carolina in 2014.
Since then, she has been working full-time as an athletic trainer with stints at Alfred State University, the University of New Orleans and most recently Campbell University. In addition to her full-time work, she also serves as a volunteer athletic trainer with the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee through the medical volunteer program.
Younger will assist coach Papa with the distance runners as a volunteer while she works on her latest educational endeavor at The Rock.
