Former Slippery Rock University men’s soccer standout George Oakley has returned for his second season as a graduate assistant on head coach Kevin Wilhelm’s staff for the SRU men’s soccer program in 2021.
As a graduate assistant, Oakley assists Wilhelm in all facets of the program while pursuing a master’s degree in business administration.
Oakley returns to The Rock following a one-year stint as an assistant coach at Walsh University.
In what was a standout-playing career, Oakley started 62 of 69 games played for Slippery Rock from 2015-18. The Huddersfield, England native recorded 25 points on 17 assists and four goals during his playing career.
Oakley earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference honors as a junior and started and started 15 games as a freshman in 2015 for a Rock team that won a PSAC championship and ended the season 14-6.
