Played in 25 of The Rock’s 29 games in 2008-09 and was in the starting lineup for one game (1/10/09 vs. Millersville) ... Averaged 1.7 points and 3.2 rebounds in 10.2 minutes played per game ... Scored season-high six points and blocked four shots 2/11/09 in home win over eventual PSAC-West, conference and regional champion Gannon ... Grabbed season-high eight rebounds 12/8/08 in win over Penn State Wilkes-Barre and had seven rebounds 1/17/09 vs. Edinboro ... Had two blocked shots 11/22/08 in season-opening win over Ohio University Eastern ... Also rejected two shots 1/11/09 vs. West Chester and 1/24/09 vs. Clarion ... Finished the season with 15 blocked shots, which ranked third on the team.
UNIVERSITY OF NORTH FLORIDA:
2002-03: Played in all 29 games ... Was in the starting lineup for 24 games ... Finished the season ranked fifth in the Peach Belt Conference in blocked shots with a 1.17 per game average (34 in 29 games) ... Was ranked 17th in PBC in rebounding with a 5.3 per game average ... Was third leading scorer and rebounder on team that finished season with 15-14 record ... Led the team in blocked shots ... Scored season-high 21 points vs. Columbus State and equalled that total vs. South Carolina Aiken ... Also led team in scoring with 18 points at South Carolina Aiken, with 16 points vs. Clayton State and with 14 points vs. Lander ... Grabbed season-high 13 rebounds in PBC second-round playoff game vs. Augusta State ... HIGH SCHOOL:
Graduate of Kennedy Catholic High School in Farrell, Pa. … Served as a standout inside presence on one of Pennsylvania’s greatest small school teams ... Kennedy Catholic won four straight state Class A state championships from 1999-2002 ... Gary started for the last three seasons (2000-02) ... As a senior, he earned first-team All-Mercer County Athletic Conference honors and fourth-team Associated Press Small School all-state honors, as well as a spot on the Sharon Herald’s Fab 5 team after averaging 15.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 3.6 blocked shots per game ... Perhaps his two best efforts were a 12-point, 15-rebound “double-double” in a 64-57 overtime win over Bishop Hannan (led by former Syracuse star Gerry McNamara) in the 1999-2000 PIAA state championship game and a monster 22-point, 20-rebound performance against Duquesne in the 2002 Western Regional final ... Led Kennedy Catholic to a collective 81-12 record during his scholastic career.
