Rob Skaricich enters his sixth season as a defensive consultant working with The Rock defensive backs in 2021.

In 2019, Skaricich helped coach a Rock team that went 13-1, won Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, PSAC West and Super Region I championships while appearing in the national semifinals and finishing the year ranked sixth in the nation by the American Football Coaches Association.

Skaricich guided defensive backs Khadir Roberts and Eric Glover-Williams to All-PSAC West accolades last season while Dalton Holt ranked second on the team total tackles. Slippery Rock ranked third in the PSAC in interceptions with 17, 12 of which came from Rock defensive backs.

In 2018, Slippery Rock led the PSAC in interceptions and ranked fourth in passing completion percentage defense. In 2016, SRU also ranked second in the PSAC in interceptions and third in passing completion percentage defense under Skaricich’s watch.

Skaricich has coached three Rock defensive backs to All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Accolades (Titus Howard-2016, Kyle Hall-2018, Eric Glover-Williams-2018).

Prior to joining The Rock coaching staff, Skaricich was a standout coach in both football and baseball at Grove City College from 1997 to 2016.

Skaricich served as Grove City’s defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for 13 seasons (2003-15). On his watch, the Wolverines consistently fielded one of the top defenses in the President’s Athletic Conference. Grove City led the PAC in total defense in 2010 and 2012 with the 2012 squad ranking in the top 25 in Division III in total defense.

During his tenure, 26 Grove City defensive players earned All-PAC accolades with Aaron Margo going on to receive All-America recognition in 2005.

Equally as impressive as his coaching accomplishments on the gridiron is Skaricich’s baseball coaching prowess. He won 276 games over an 18-year coaching career at Grove City, the most in Wolverine history.

Skaricich guided Grove City to PAC championships in 2001, 2002, 2008 and 2011. A four-time PAC Coach of the Year, Skaricich led Grove City to the school’s first NCAA Tournament appearance (2008) and developed the program’s only Major League Baseball draftee in Erik Arnesen (2006-Washington Nationals).

Before embarking on a storied coaching career at Grove City, Skaricich also served as an assistant coach at Marietta College (1993-97), Kent State University (1993) and Saint Peter Chanel High School (1992).

Skaricich earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Hiram College in 1991 and a master’s in Exercise Science from Cleveland State University in 1993.
