Lou Falconi Jr. enters his third season as wide receivers coach at Slippery Rock University.
A 2003 graduate of Grove City College with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance, Falconi Jr. turned his attention to coaching after he had his collegiate playing career cut short by wrist injuries during his freshman season.
Falconi Jr. was an assistant coach at Hermitage High School in 2007 before sitting out the 2008 campaign. He worked as a mortgage broker before he began pursuit of his elementary education teaching certificate at Slippery Rock University in the spring of 2009.
He is the son of Lou Falconi, who led teams to two PIAA Class A and four WPIAL titles and over 200 victories in 27 seasons as the head football coach at Farrell (Pa.) High School.
Falconi Jr. played for his father at Farrell and was a wide receiver and defensive back on the 1995 and 1996 state championship teams. He earned all-district honors in both roles as a senior in 1997. Falconi Jr. later served as wide receivers, defensive backs and strength coach on his father’s staff from 2000-06 and was the offensive coordinator from 2002-06.
