Earl Fair was a two-sport standout for Slippery Rock throughout his collegiate career as an integral part of SRU’s soccer and track teams.

Fair led Slippery Rock to a stellar .643 winning percentage and three straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships. Fair was the captain of The Rock’s 1954 championship team. Following the 1954 season, he was named an All-American by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

In addition to his soccer and basketball prowess, Fair also competed on independent baseball and basketball teams in Butler County in 1954 and 1955.

Upon graduating from Slippery Rock, Fair taught Health and Physical Education, English and History at Chicora High School while also coaching varsity and junior varsity basketball until 1957.

After leaving Chicora, Fair has spent 40 years as a pastor in Alaska, Nevada, New York and Pennsylvania until retiring in 2001.

He also went on to become a Boy Scout Master, a board member for the New York State Heart Association and a founding member of the Butler County Citizens for Decency Organization.

Fair and his wife, Glenda, have two sons: Mark and Matthew, as well as three grandchildren. Fair’s brother Joseph and sister Sally are both Slippery Rock graduates.
