Tony Hindley

SRU Class of 1983 / SRU Soccer Ring of Honor 2013

TONY HINDLEY was a three-year member of The Rock men’s program after starting his collegiate career at Alderson-Broaddus College in West Virginia.

Hindley earned two All-PSAC honors and was an NSCAA All-American as a Rock junior in 1981, when he scored 12 goals and had 10 assists.

Hindley, who shares the school record for single-game assists with four against St. Vincent in 1981, currently ranks ninth on SRU’s career scoring list with 29 goals and 18 assists for 76 points.

Behind Hindley’s lead, The Rock recorded double-digit win totals in all three of his seasons with the Green and White, a feat that went unduplicated until 2004-06.

Hindley, a 1983 Rock graduate, has lived and coached in the Zelienople area for the last 20 years and most recently served on the staff of the Seneca Valley Soccer Association from 2001-05 and Stars United club/classic from 2006-08.

A native of Sheffield, England, who emigrated to the U.S. in 1975 and graduated from North Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh’s North Hills section, Hindley has been employed as a sales professional for more than 20 years. He and his wife, Sheri, a 1984 SRU graduate, are the parents of one daughter, Healy.
