Raymond, “Ray,” Bitar graduated in 1958 from New Kensington High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Slippery Rock University in 1963 and his Master’s of Education degree in Mathematics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1968. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate degree in 1974 from Duquesne University Law School. Upon graduation from Duquesne, he established the Law firm—Bitar & Bitar where he continues to practice law today.
While he was a student at SRU, Ray played varsity soccer under Coach Jim Egli from 1959 to 1963 and was a leading scorer during that time. He was captain of the 1963 team and received many All American nominations.
Ray taught mathematics at Reynoldsville High School from 1963-1964. He taught at Valley High School in New Kensington where he also served as head wrestling coach. Ray also taught at Peabody High School from 1970-1974 while attending night classes at Duquesne University Law School.
Ray is married to Mary Louise (Suveges) Bitar, who is also a 1963 graduate of SRU. They have two sons, Ray Jr., a doctor of chiropractic, and Scott, who is an attorney and his law partner. They are the proud grandparents of nine beautiful and healthy grandchildren.
