Jack Jarvie

Jack (John P.) Jarvie, born in 1938 is a Pittsburgh native.  He graduated from Oakmont High School and then furthered his education at Slippery Rock University, Duquesne University for his Mea., and the University of Buffalo for his Ed. D. 

Even though Jarvie went on to further his education at other fine institutions, while he was here at Slippery Rock, Jarvie played soccer from 1955-1959, basketball in 1955 as a freshman, and baseball in 1958.

As a player on the SRU Soccer team, he was an NCAA Soccer All American in 1958 and 1959.  Also in those years, Jarvie was the Co-Captain of the team. 

He also participated on the Indianola Independent Team, a soccer team in 1959-1960 and was Class President for his freshman and junior classes. 

After college, Jarvie became an Intercollegiate Soccer Referee, was the President and Executive Secretary for PASCD or Pennsylvania Association for Curriculum and Development, and was the Chairman of Erie County Athletic Commission.  He also was the coach for Edinboro State College Soccer Club Team and the President of the Edinboro Chapter of PHI DELTA KAPPA, an educational fraternity. 

Jarvie was a health and physical education teacher at North Allegheny School District and Aliquippa School District. 

While teaching within the same subject area at Fox Chapel Junior and Senior High School, Jarvie also was a coach there as well. 

He was the Assistant/Director of the Federal Education Programs in Northwest Pennsylvania, the Assistant Executive Director of Northwest TRI-County Intermediate Unit, and was a part time assistant professor at Edinboro State University. 

Now he is residing in Erie, Pennsylvania with his wife, Mary Jo Jarvie.  They also have two daughters, Nora Ann Connolly and Mary P. Jarvie-Cipriani and a son, John F. Jarvie.
