It was a pleasant surprise to see Joe Vines, Cecil Brown and Tommy Kelly (former SRU basketball players and graduates) at recent games. All three men made significant contributions SRU’s past successes. They shared SRU basketball memories with our current team members. It is always nice to see our former players and see how well they are doing.
Joe Vines (professional studies graduate) was at our 84-66 victory over Bloomsburg University last weekend. Joe did a fantastic job meeting with his former teammates and fellow SRU basketball family members. We all had a great time visiting and catching up with Joe. Joe looks like he is still in “game shape”.
The team had a great time visiting with
Cecil Brown (exercise science graduate) and his family at the Michigan game. CB is back home in Michigan and is doing well. He also looks like he is in “playing shape”. It was nice to see how well CB is doing.
Last Saturday at Clarion,
Tommy Kelly (safety science graduate) was in the house. Always the vocal leader, Tommy was cheering the guys on the floor. We miss his communication and leadership abilities. Tommy was ready to put on the Rock uniform and start playing again.
Bloomsburg University had a basketball Alumni Game after our recent basketball contest. It was nice to see some of my former teammates and coaches at the event. It was really exciting to catch-up and share lots of pleasant memories with everyone. Time goes by so quickly. It was a great opportunity to see how well my friends are doing and meet with their families.
We are currently in final examinations period (Dec. 11-14). This is a big academic week for everyone in our program.
Following finals, we have two tough opponents at home on Dec. 18 (West Chester University) and Dec. 19 (Cheyney). These two teams will pose a challenge to our basketball team. We are hoping for a strong community turnout to compensate for our student body being home for the semester break. See you at the games.
Go Rock!
