2012 Fall Baseball Report

The fall development season is well underway with many new additions to our program.

Included in the 2012-13 changes are new coaches, Billy Messer and Carmen Nocera. Billy returns to SRU after serving the last two years as Director of Baseball Operations  for NCAA  D-I powerhouse Virginia. Nocera, arrives at SRU via Westminster College where he served as Head Baseball Coach the last 12 years. Bob Mitcheltree remains on the staff as the catching coach and bullpen coach. A special thank you to Steve Urda who has stepped down as the pitching coach.

Yesterday (Oct. 2) was an exciting day for our student-athletes.  The SRU hardballers showcased their talent in front of 24 Major League Baseball organizations.  Rock players were evaluated by MLB scouts at our annual “Scout Day”.   Players and scouts were excited with the level of competition and will be back this spring to follow potential pro prospects.

With the increased coaching staff, players have been working extremely hard on the field and in the weight room.  A very special thank you to Jerry Bejbl for his generous gift in purchasing all-new weight-training and conditioning equipment for the Jerry Bejbl Weight Training Room at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.  The facility has to be one of the nicest weight rooms in the PSAC.

The Rock will have games Sunday (Oct. 7) vs. the Toronto Mets and Sunday, Oct. 14, vs. Mercyhurst, both at noon. Fans are invited to come out and watch our guys prepare for the 2013 season.

Please continue to follow the Rock Baseball Blog as we continue with our fall development, and thank you for your interest and support.

We encourage all Rock Baseball Alumni to go to click here and update your information so we can keep you updated on upcoming events.
