Men’s Basketball Blog – Part 4
Update:
In my last blog, I wrote about SRU’s Athletic Dept. being a talent hotbed. Since my last posting, yet another SRU coach has moved on to another promotion. Former Rock assistant lacrosse coach Lindsay Reese (right photo) has accepted the head coaching position at Lycoming College. Congratulations! I was extremely excited for Lindsay and her husband, Mike, as they move to Mike’s hometown and Lindsay’s first opportunity as a head coach. The whole SRU community will be rooting for you and your new team.
The SRU Lacrosse team has made great strides under Head Coach Emily Hopkins since I have been here. Our Men’s Basketball team has enjoyed working with the Women’s lacrosse team parking cars at the cheerleading competitions every year. It has been a good partnership! Lindsay, I know you are going to miss those cold days working in the SRU parking lots.
This Homecoming week at Slippery Rock University! We have a huge football game against PSAC West Division opponent, Edinboro University, at 2 p.m. at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. I am excited about seeing our football team play this weekend. After coming off an impressive road victory over archrival Clarion University, the team should be ready to make a statement on Saturday. After practicing on Saturday morning, our Men’s Basketball team will there in full force ready to cheer the Rock on to victory. This is an important game as many proud SRU alums will be making the trek back to visit their alma mater. I am expecting a record breaking crowd on Saturday. The atmosphere should be electric at kick-off!
We are a little over two weeks away from our first exhibition game vs. The Midshipmen of Navy on November 4th. We have a lot of work to do to get ready.
I have to run off to practice! Until next time!
