2025 CSC Academic All-America Team
Â
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Slippery Rock University sophomore
Nicole Kempton was named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-America Team, the organization announced Tuesday with the unveiling of its women's tennis honorees.
Â
Kempton, a native of South Park, Pennsylvania, earned third team CSC Academic All-America accolades. She was one of just two student-athletes from the Atlantic Region to make the team along with East Stroudsburg's Louise Boyer-Vidal.
Â
The CSC Academic All-America Team, selected by CSC, the governing body of college sports information directors, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom.
Â
In order to be named to the CSC Academic All-America team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and in athletic eligibility, own a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50, have significant athletic credentials and be a CSC Academic All-District selection.
Â
Not only does Kempton carry a perfect 4.00 GPA after completing 78 hours as a public health major, she also earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division honors in 2025 in both singles and doubles competition.
Â
Following a standout rookie campaign in 2024 in which she was bestowed with PSAC West Freshman of the Year accolades, Kempton moved up to The Rock's No. 3 singles flight while once again occupying on of SRU's spots in the program's top doubles flight as a sophomore.
Â
In singles competition, Kempton compiled a 20-9 overall record while going 15-4 in third-flight play and a perfect 6-0 against PSAC West counterparts. Only five of her nine singles setbacks came against Division II opponents. Kempton, who was positioned seventh in the Atlantic Region in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's year-end rankings, lost just one singles bout after March 23.
Â
The doubles portion of the season saw Kempton form a first-year partnership with
Alissia Kivi. The duo proved to be one of the best in the nation as evidenced by a stellar 26-8 overall record that included a 16-6 mark in the first flight and another flawless 6-0 record inside the PSAC West. Kempton and Kivi closed the year ranked 38th in the nation, and third in the Atlantic Region, by the ITA.
Â
Kempton enters her junior year in 2025-26 as already a four-time All-PSAC West honoree to go with a career 35-16 singles record and a 42-21 mark in doubles play for cumulative .700 career winning percentage. Â
Â
Slippery Rock women's tennis has now had four athletes earn CSC Academic All-America honors throughout the program's history in Kempton, Ella Reilly (2002-03), Janelle Krantz (2011-12 / 2012-13) and Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez (2021-22, 2022-23).
Â
Kempton becomes the 142nd Academic All-America honoree at Slippery Rock since the awards program began in 1970. Entering the 2024-25 academic year, SRU ranked sixth among all NCAA Division II institutions in total Academic All-America selections and 41st all-time across the entire NCAA.
Â
Slippery Rock concluded its season with a 15-10 overall record, including a 14-6 showing against fellow Division II competition. After making the finals of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament and winning its section of the regional tournament, SRU advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Round of 16 for the first time since 2010.
