WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team continued its string of strong play with a 7-0 road victory Sunday over West Chester University at the WCU Tennis Courts.

SRU has now logged three consecutive shutouts to improve its record to 9-8 overall. Victors in six of their last eight matches, The Rock have worked their way to a winning record for the first time this season with Sunday's win. Following the loss, West Chester falls to 4-13 in 2025.

Tina Slovak and
Amaia Balaguer Brau kickstarted the day by posting their fifth consecutive victory, and improving their record to 13-3 in the process, from the second flight by downing Felicia Manful and Lerario dos Santos, 6-1.

The Rock's No. 1 doubles team, and 48th-ranked pairing in the nation, of
Nicole Kempton and
Alissia Kivi officially clinched the contest's first point for SRU courtesy of a 6-1 win over Alexandra Cave and Delaney Tingle. The nationally ranked duo is now 22-6 this year.

Doubles play concluded in the third flight following a 6-2 victory for
Dari Sakhanova and
Georgie Lancaster against Asheigh Grooms and Sohana Thompson. Winners of two straight matches, Sakhanova and Lancaster are now an even 7-7 this year.

The singles portion of the match began with Slovak blanking Santos 6-0, 6-0 for what was her 10th victory of 2025.

Kempton promptly stretched her impressive individual winning streak to six matches via a 6-0, 6-2 showing against Cave in the third flight. At 16-8, Kempton is one of four Rock athletes with at least 15 wins.

Kivi booked SRU's team win by way of a 6-1, 6-1 decision versus Grooms in second-flight play. Kivi's rookie record improves to 18-7 with the triumph. She's on a five-match winning streak.

Balaguer Brau, the No. 29 singles athlete in the country and the reigning Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Athlete of the Week, pushed her winning streak to a team-high eight matches after besting Tingle 6-2, 6-3 in the first flight.

The remainder of the day was highlighted by victories from the back end of The Rock's singles lineup as Sakhanova beat Manful 6-2, 6-0 and Lancaster captured a 6-3, 6-3 win against Thompson.

The final two wins give Sakhanova a 16-9 overall record while Lancaster is nearing a .500 percentage at 10-11.

Slippery Rock will look to continue its winning ways 4 p.m. April 17 at Edinboro.
