EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team cut a 21-point halftime deficit down to just eight heading into the fourth quarter but fell to Edinboro 65-44 in the final game of the season Wednesday on the road.
Â
The Rock finish the 2024-25 campaign with a 7-19 overall record that includes a 4-16 mark inside the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Fighting Scots improve to 21-5 on the year as well as a PSAC-West leading 16-3 record.
Â
After facing a 39-18 halftime deficit, The Rock outscored Edinboro 17-4 throughout the third quarter to shave the Fighting Scots' advantage down to just eight points. The third quarter marked the fewest points allowed by Slippery Rock in a single quarter since holding Shippensburg University to three points in the second quarter 44 games ago.
Â
Four players –
Alyssa Gillin,
Mairan Haggerty,
Brooklyn Jones and
Kayley Joseph-Bernard – led The Rock with 10 points apiece.
Endya Robinson recorded a career-high 13 rebounds in her final game, while Haggerty's nine rebounds left her one board shy of a double-double.
Â
Jones added a team-leading three assists, and three steals came courtesy of Joseph-Bernard. Gillin blocked two shots for The Rock.
Hallie Raabe (2 points, 4 rebounds) and
Sophia Hook (2 points, 2 rebounds) rounded out SRU's scoring efforts.

Slippery Rock held Edinboro without a field goal for the first 3:55 of the game but only mustered a 2-1 advantage in that span, its only lead of the contest. The Fighting Scots ended the first quarter on a 9-3 run that earned them a 15-7 lead.
Â
Edinboro shot a game-high 68.8 percent (11-of-16) in the second quarter while holding The Rock to 26.7 percent (4-of-15). That correlated into a 24-11 difference in the scoring column that handed Slippery Rock a 39-18 disadvantage heading into the locker room.
Â
A 7-0 Slippery Rock run that opened the second half was a sign of how the third quarter would go, a period in which SRU's 17-3 advantage came with 66.7 percent shooting (6-of-9). The Rock played perhaps their best 10 minutes defensively all year in that frame, holding Edinboro to just 7.7 percent from the floor (1-of-13).
Â
While Slippery Rock began the fourth quarter down just 43-35, the Fighting Scots were able to pace SRU the rest of the way, opening the game up to the eventual 21-point decision.

Slippery Rock outrebounded Edinboro, 36-34. SRU is one of just two teams in the last eight games to win the rebounding battle against the Fighting Scots.
Â
Edinboro wound up shooting 42.9 percent from the field (27-of-63) including 12.5 percent from 3-point range (2-of-16) – the lowest rate from beyond the arc for Edinboro this season. The Fighting Scots also shot 81.8 percent at the charity stripe (9-of-11) and earned a 27-12 stronghold in turnovers. Ava Haddad led Boro with 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting.
