SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team suffered an 82-57 loss to No. 11 Seton Hill University in the first game of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division play Friday at Morrow Field House.

The Rock fall to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference, while the nationally ranked Griffins improve to 13-1 on the year and stay undefeated in league play at 7-0.

Regan Atkins led Slippery Rock with 12 points and six rebounds, adding two assists and two steals.
Brooklyn Jones chipped in eight points off the bench, while
Alyssa Gillin recorded seven points and four rebounds.
Tahmala Thorpe aided The Rock with seven points and two assists.

Kayley Joseph-Bernard came away with two blocks on top of six points, two rebounds and a team-high three assists.
Rebecca Goetz joined her with two blocks, additionally registering a steal.

Seton Hill scored more than 20 points in three of the four quarters and never surrendered the lead after a 10-of-19 showing through the opening quarter (52.6 percent). The Rock trailed by just three points with 2:40 left in the first quarter but a 9-3 SHU run lifted the Griffins to a 23-14 lead heading into the second quarter.

The Rock held Seton Hill to just 13 points in the second quarter but scored 13 themselves to head into halftime down 36-27. A pair of 3-pointers to open the second half extended the Griffins' lead to 15 points, and a 22-14 difference throughout the third quarter left Slippery Rock with a 58-41 deficit entering the final period.

Three straight threes that comprised a 9-0 run kept the pace of play tilted in Seton Hill's favor midway through the fourth quarter. A 3-pointer from Hook 1:19 into the fourth and a triple from Washington with 1:55 remaining marked the last field goals made by SRU in the 25-point game.

Slippery Rock shot 36.7 percent from the field (18-of-49) and 25.0 percent from 3-point range (4-of-16) as opposed to SHU's 43.5 percent showing overall (30-of-69) and 54.5 percent outpouring from the 3-point arc (12-of-22).

The Rock bested Seton Hill percentagewise at the foul line, making 81.0 percent (17-of-21) compared to the Griffins' 71.4 percent (10-of-14). SRU logged a -2 rebounding margin (37-35) and a -8 difference in turnovers (20-12). Hallie Cowan led Seton Hill with 23 points, while Mia Kalich served as the Griffins' top rebounder with seven.

SRU will be back on the court at Morrow Field House 5:30 p.m. Jan. 6 when it hosts Pitt-Johnstown.
