SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – Four double-digit scorers led the Slippery Rock University women's basketball team to a 70-51 win over Mansfield Tuesday at Morrow Field House.

The Rock improve to a 5-5 overall record, the eighth time in the last 10 seasons that SRU has earned at least a .500 record through the opening 10 games of the year. SRU is also now 3-2 within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Mountaineers fall to 5-5 on the year and 1-4 in the PSAC with the loss.

Regan Atkins led The Rock with 18 points and nine rebounds, becoming the fastest SRU women's basketball player to reach 500 points and 200 rebounds in 24 years – Tuesday's game marked Atkins' 35
th career game with The Rock, all of which she has started.

Tahmala Thorpe accrued 14 points along with a team-leading five assists and four steals, pulling down four rebounds.
Mairan Haggerty came away with 11 points and seven rebounds, marking her third straight game with at least 10 points.

Kayley Joseph-Bernard rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points and five rebounds. She led The Rock with four steals while adding three assists.
Alyssa Gillin served as a dual threat with seven points and eight rebounds, leading SRU with two blocks. She also contributed three of SRU's 12 assists – a team high for the season.

Brooklyn Jones gave The Rock six points on two 3-pointers, while
Deryn Moye scored four points as one of Slippery Rock's seven total players in the scoring column.
Rebecca Goetz did not come out of Tuesday's contest with any points but proved vital for The Rock with six rebounds, one steal and one block.

Three of SRU's first four field goals all came from 3-point range with Thorpe, Gillin and Atkins all knocking down triples to begin the game. Slippery Rock forced nine Mansfield turnovers in the first quarter alone, jumping out to a 15-2 lead and eventually, an 18-9 advantage heading into the second.

Mansfield's best 10-minute stretch came in the second quarter, a period in which the Mounties outscored Slippery Rock, 17-12. As a result, Mansfield overcame two separate 13-point deficits to head into the locker rooms trailing by just four points – 30-26.

Slippery Rock made two-thirds of its shots (10-of-15) in the third quarter, starting the second half on a 10-0 run to go up, 40-26. The Rock went on to score 25 points through the third quarter – the team's third different 25-point quarter on the year – to extend their lead to 15 points by the end of the frame, 55-40.

The Rock held Mansfield to 23.5 percent from the field in the fourth quarter, pacing play to earn a 19-point victory through the final 10 minutes. Haggerty scored five of her 11 points in the fourth quarter including a 3-pointer as the shot clocked expired with four seconds remaining in regulation.

SRU wound up shooting 42.4 percent overall (25-of-59) and 29.2 percent from the 3-point arc (7-of-24). The Rock converted 76.5 percent of their free throws as well (13-of-17). Slippery Rock earned a +6 rebounding margin (42-36) and a +4 difference in turnovers (19-15) through the contest.

Mansfield shot 30.4 percent (17-of-56) from the hardwood including 33.3 percent (6-of-18) from 3-point range. The Mounties went 68.8 percent (11-of-16) at the free throw line. Danae Ellzy led the Mountaineers off the bench with 17 points, as Amiyah Nguyen's six rebounds led Mansfield atop her 3-point outing.

Slippery Rock will conclude the calendar year 1 p.m. Saturday with its final PSAC East opponent, traveling to East Stroudsburg University. The Rock will then regroup in 2025 and open PSAC West play 5 p.m. Jan. 3 at Morrow Field House when they host Seton Hill University.
