CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against California (Pa.) Saturday on the road.

The Rock are now 2-2-3 on the year and stay undefeated in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division play with a 0-0-2 record. The Vulcans moved to 2-4-3 overall and got out of the loss column inside the PSAC West, improving to 0-2-1.

Slippery Rock utilized two first-time goalscorers to get to the draw in
Rasmus Fugl (4') and
Colton Spence (51').
Aashi Pandher earned his first point of the year with an assist.

Fugl accounted for four of Slippery Rock's eight shots, landing two attempts on net. Spence,
Aaron Finney,
Ryan Hanes and
Aitor Jorde each took one shot.
Adam Davies did not record a save in his full 90-minute stint in net.

Fugl put The Rock on the board just 3:53 into the game on the assist from Pandher, but Cal equalized quickly with a sixth-minute goal.

The first half only saw a combined three additional shots, with SRU taking a 3-2 advantage through the first 45 minutes.

Spence converted a corner kick from
Ignacio Rullan by giving Slippery Rock its second lead of the day 5:20 into the second half, putting The Rock up 2-1. That goal marks the second of Spence's career which included one goal while playing at Division I Robert Morris University.

Just as they answered in the first half, it did not take the Vulcans much time to find a tying goal. The 2-2 scoreline came from a Brady Olsen goal in the 58
th minute, a score that would last for the remainder of the game.

The match's final 32 minutes were contested heavily in the midfield, but Slippery Rock was able to find a slight offensive edge to win two corners in the final 10 minutes.
Shaun Spencer took an 81
st-minute corner that Cal was able to turn aside, with The Rock's final opportunity coming on a corner with just 49 seconds left.

Slippery Rock was unable to score on the set piece, forced to settle for the 2-2 tie. The Rock are now 2-1-1 on the road through the 2024 season.

The Rock managed leads in shots (8-5), shots on goal (3-2) and corner kicks (8-3) to the end of the game. Max Llado was Cal's lone shot-taker with more than one attempt, taking two total shots on the day. Kiernan Webb made the game's only save in goal for California.

The Rock will come home to play two straight games beginning with a 4 p.m. kickoff Oct. 9 against Lock Haven University at James Egli Field.
