EDINBORO, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team cut a 12-point deficit to as little as six in the third quarter but fell behind to Edinboro in a 75-58 loss on the road Monday. Â

Despite the final score, Slippery Rock kept pace with Edinboro through the entirety of the first half thanks to 7-of-13 (.539) 3-point shooting. The Fighting Scots converted 13-of-27 (.482) from the floor in the final 20 minutes to pull away and secure the 17-point margin of victory.

The Rock's record on the season fell to 2-14 overall and 2-11 within the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference while the Fighting Scots improved to 10-8 overall and 8-5 in league play.

Leading the charge from both sides of the 3-point arc was
Kristina Donza, who wrapped up the day with 17 points including three 3-pointers.
Deryn Moye helped by posting a career-high 12 points that featured a 3-of-3 look from 3-point range in the first half.

Regan Atkins was the team's top rebounder with seven boards on top of her 12 points.
Endya Robinson ended the game as both the fourth different SRU player to play all 40 minutes as well as the fourth player to reach double figures, tallying 11 points and six rebounds.

Kaylin Venick joined Atkins in contributing three assists and one block.

After scoring the first points of the game, SRU saw its lead dissipated by a 10-0 run from the Fighting Scots within the first 2:47. 3-point shooting allowed The Rock to rally back to multiple one-possession deficits but never fully back into the lead. A 7-2 spurt from Edinboro allowed the Fighting Scots to carry a 25-17 lead into the second quarter.

SRU shot well again in the second quarter, going 8-of-17 (.471) from the court. Edinboro's consistent 50 percent shooting (8-of-16) restricted Slippery Rock from outscoring the Fighting Scots by any more than 21-20, setting up the second half with a 45-38 difference.

Edinboro found a defensive footing in the third quarter, holding The Rock to just seven points as opposed to the Fighting Scots' 20. Slippery Rock fought for a 13-10 advantage in the fourth quarter, ultimately unable to cut away at the lead that Edinboro had stretched out.

In total, Slippery Rock was still able to shoot 22-of-56 (.393) from the floor, 8-of-20 (.400) in 3-point shots and 6-of-9 (.667) from the foul line. The Rock committed just 12 turnovers throughout the contest, its second-lowest total on the season.

Edinboro lived up to its standard as the sixth-best shooting team in the PSAC, going 32-of-59 (.542) from the hardwood, 6-of-14 (.429) for three and 5-of-8 (.625) at the charity stripe.
Additionally, Edinboro outrebounded The Rock, 35-27. Both teams came away with two blocks.

The Fighting Scots attacked as a team with three players reaching 20 points. Both Gillian Fisher and Morgan Gentile added 21 points while Ashten Boggs aided with 20 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The Rock will respond to its two-game road trip with a two-game homestand beginning 5:30 Wednesday with a game against Mercyhurst University. SRU has swept the Lakers in each of its last two seasons.
