SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University men's basketball team played one of its most complete games of the season to earn its second win in as many nights with a convincing 93-77 victory against Shippensburg University Tuesday at Morrow Field House.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference victory improved The Rock's record to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in league competition while the visiting Raiders fall to 4-5 overall and 1-3 inside the PSAC.

Ike Herster came off the bench to lead The Rock with season-high 20 points. Herster, who also tallied four rebounds, converted 8-of-14 field goals, including three 3-pointers.

Lashon Lindsey registered his fourth double-double of the season as part of a 17-point, 13-rebound, four-assist, two-block, two-steal performance. Lindsey, who went 7-for-11 from the field overall, knocked down 3-of-5 3-point attempts in a great all-around effort.

Maceo Austin was the third Rock player to finish in double figures with 16 points in addition to five rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal.

Jomo Goings and
Sheick Samoura scored nine points apiece with Goings also delivering a career-high six assists to go with seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

Rounding out The Rock's top performers in the win were
Ja'Mier Fletcher and
Luke Howes. Fletcher had six points, six rebounds and one block with Howes chipping in eight points, three assists and one steal.

The Rock and Raiders traded baskets over the opening seven minutes of regulation with Shippensburg eventually holding a slim 15-14 lead. However, SRU proceeded to effectively put the game away by scoring 25 of the following 34 points over the next 6:54 to take a 39-24 advantage.

Five different Rock athletes scored during the decisive run including, Herster who paced the pack with 13 points over the spurt.

Slippery Rock would take a 49-33 lead into the halftime break and grow its lead to as many as 24 points midway through the second half en route to the 93-77 win.

SRU ended the night posting a season-high .513 field goal percentage (40-of-78) all the while making the most of its limited trips to the foul line in a 5-for-6 effort (.833). The Rock dominated the glass by way of a +12 (47-35) rebounding margin, including 14 offensive boards which were transferred into 19 second chance points.

While committing just 11 turnovers of its own, Slippery Rock also scored 17 points off 12 Raider miscues. For a second consecutive night, SRU blocked seven shots to increase its PSAC-best per game average to 5.6.

Shippensburg left Morrow Field House shooting 42.6 percent from the field (29-of-68), 36 percent (9-of-25) from 3-point range and 58.8 percent (10-of-17) at the foul line. The duo of Ty Crespo (23) and Markus Frank (22) combined to score 45 points for the Raiders.

Slippery Rock will break for the week before returning to PSAC competition with a road game 3 p.m. Dec. 30 at Lock Haven University.
