EBENSBURG, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team posted its third straight win and second consecutive shutout by defeating Pitt-Johnstown, 3-0, Saturday at Central Cambria High School.

The Rock improved their record to 5-5-4 overall, above .500 at 4-3 for the first time this season in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division competition. Suffering its second loss of the year to SRU, Pitt-Johnstown moves to 3-6-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the PSAC West.

Slippery Rock's winning performance featured a two-goal brace by Aitor Jorde, as well as a goal from Luke Gildea, who added an assist. Arturo Pla Hernandis also recorded an assist, his first since 2021 and third of his career.

Despite just playing 27 minutes, Jorde led the team on the attack by placing all three of his shots on frame. Pla Hernandis also had three shots, with one on target, while Ryan Hanes fired two shots on goal.

Adam Davies made three saves in his third career shutout, facing five shots. Duncan McCoy also saw time in goal, coming in late to relieve Davies.

The Rock got on the board in the 17th minute on Gildea's goal, which was assisted by Pla Hernandis. Gildea has now scored both of his goals on the season in the most recent two games. Pla Hernandis extended his heap of points on the year, up to 17 points on eight goals and Saturday's assist.

SRU rode its 1-0 lead into halftime, holding a 5-3 advantage in shots.

The Rock jumped right into action in the second period, as Gildea assisted Jorde's first goal of the day. Jorde scored just 3:31 later to give SRU a 3-0 lead and mark his fifth goal in three games.

For the third straight game, Jorde tallied four points, drawing 12 points in three games on five goals and a pair of assists. On the year, he now has 18 points on eight goals and two assists.

Davies had to make no saves in the second half, as UPJ was outshot 9-2, taking all of its shots on goal in the first half. The Rock would add four shots and one corner after their third goal, holding the Mountain Cats out of the net for their second straight 3-0 win.
