KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team lost a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference game to Kutztown University, 4-0, Saturday at Andre Reed Stadium in Kutztown, Pennsylvania.
The league defeat moves The Rock's record to 3-12 overall and 0-7 in the PSAC while the nationally ranked Golden Bears improve to 13-2 overall and 6-2 inside the conference.
Kutztown registered three goals in the first half followed by an additional insurance score in the third quarter for the shutout victory.
Leslie Colliver led The Rock with two total shots, one of which was on target.
Bailee Christman added a shot on goal as well for the SRU attack.
Defensively, Rock goalkeeper
Grace Burker made eight saves over 60 minutes.
Kutztown produced it goals with scores in the fourth, 19th, 28th and 43rd minutes while The Rock's on target attempts by Colliver and Christman were saved by KU goalie Mia Kepler within a 21-second stretch of game in the third quarter.
For the game, the Golden Bears held advantages over The Rock in total shots (21-3), shots on goal (12-2) and penalty corners (11-3).
Slippery Rock will play its final road game of the year 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at Mercyhurst University. SRU defeated the Lakers, 2-1, in a shootout a year ago at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.
