JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team lost 75-48 in a road Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division contest at Pitt-Johnstown Saturday.

The Rock ends the weekend with records of 9-8 overall and 4-7 in the PSAC West while the Mountain Cats improve to 11-6 overall and 8-3 in the league.

Slippery Rock could not quite settle into an offensive stride as The Rock scored only eight points over the first quarter and 21 points through the first half to put themselves in a deficit they could not climb out of.

UPJ used a 58.6 percent first half field goal percentage, featuring a 5-of-11 performance from 3-point range, to take a 42-21 lead over SRU into halftime.

The Rock and Mountain Cats traded baskets for the duration of the third quarter with UPJ narrowly outscoring SRU 17-15 over those 10 minutes. Pitt-Johnstown went on to take a 23-point lead into the fourth quarter that it would never relinquish en route to a 75-48 Mountain Cat victory.

Isabellah Middleton led The Rock with her seventh double-double of the season by way of 10 points and 11 rebounds to go along with two steals.

Isabellah Middleton in double figure points with 10 in addition to having three rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Jordan Kauffman scored a career-high nine points courtesy of a 3-of-6 showing from 3-point range while also tallying two rebounds and one block.
Kennedy Middleton chipped in eight points, three rebounds, three assists and one steal.

Rounding out SRU's leaders was
Kelley McKnight with four points and five rebounds as well as
Alyssa Gillin with four points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal.

Slippery Rock closed the game shooting 27.8 percent (20-of-72) from the field overall, 14.8 percent (4-of-27) from 3-point range and 66.7 percent (4-of-6) at the foul line. Despite the loss, SRU forced UPJ into 17 turnovers while making just 14 miscues of its own.

Pitt-Johnstown shot 46.6 percent (27-of-58) from the field overall, 22.7 percent (5-of-22) from distance and 69.6 percent (16-of-23) from the free throw line while out rebounding The Rock 51-35. Ashley Norling scored a game-high 21 points in the win.

Slippery Rock will look to snap its two-game losing streak when it returns home to host Lock Haven University 5:30 p.m. Jan. 23 at Morrow Field House.
