SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team will step out of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division competition this weekend with matches Saturday against Goldey-Beacom and Sunday versus West Chester.

Slippery Rock will host Goldey-Beacom at the PA Tennis Academy 3 p.m. Saturday. The Rock will then meet West Chester at the Oxford Athletic Club 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Both facilities are located in Wexford, Pennsylvania.Â

INAUGURAL WARRIER FAMILY PARAMESWAR KRISHNAKUMAR SCHOLARSHIP
Slippery Rock is proud to announce the presentation the inaugural Warrier Family Parameswar Krishnakumar Tennis Scholarship. Presented in honor of Parameswar "KK" Krishnakumar, a former Slippery Rock professor and supporter of women's tennis. The first recipients of scholarship will be
Teddi Isherwood and
Georgie Lancaster. A formal presentation of the scholarship will be held at a later date.

• Slippery Rock maintained its perfect PSAC West record, and improved to 7-5 on the year overall, following a 7-0 shutout victory earlier in the week against Edinboro.

• Goldey-Beacom has lost two straight games, including a 5-2 loss against Southern New Hampshire on April 2, to drop its overall record to 5-5.

• West Chester will bring a 6-5 record into its Saturday match at Lock Haven. WCU is coming off of a 7-0 PSAC East victory against Shippensburg.

• The Rock and Goldey-Beacom have met just four times with the Lightning owning a 3-1 record in the series. SRU and GBC last played in 2019 with Goldey-Beacom earning a 5-2 win.

Lois Page is the only active Rock athlete to have competed against Goldey-Beacom. She went 1-1 in the 2019 contest with a loss at third singles and a win at No. 1 doubles with Viola Lugmayr.

• Slippery Rock has traditionally controlled its series against West Chester as SRU is 16-3 all-time against the Golden Rams. Overall, The Rock has taken seven of the last eight matches in the series. Â

• Page is 4-0 in singles matches against West Chester athletes all-time with three of wins coming against active Golden Rams Davica Massaro, Tori Alexander and Alyssa Skulsky. Page and
Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez also teamed up to beat Alexander and Elaina Lee in the second round of the ITA Atlantic Region championships earlier in the year.

• All three of The Rock's primary doubles teams enter the weekend with winning records.
Zoe Heed and
Georgie Lancaster carry a five-match winning streak and a 6-1 overall record, including a 5-1 mark in third flight competition.

• Page currently ranks 10th in program history for wins in a career (singles+doubles) with 111. She is in the cusp of moving up multiple spots as Janelle Krantz (No. 9 / 2009-13 / 112), Lauren Coggins (No. 8 / 2010-14 / 115) and Sarah Lynch (No. 7 2009-12 / 116) are all within striking distance.
