LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team concluded its regular season schedule with a 7-0 victory against Millersville University Saturday.

With the win, Slippery Rock exits the regular season with an overall record of 13-6. SRU has now registered winning seasons in each of the last four years. Millersville drops to 14-7 in 2021-22 with the loss.

Saturday's match pitted two of the top teams in the region as SRU entered the contest slotted fourth in the most recent Atlantic Region rankings while Millersville was seventh.

Slippery Rock jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead after sweeping the doubles portion of Saturday's match.

Gabriela del Val del Toro and
Teddi Isherwood defeated Jasmine Morris and Kelsey Heckert 6-3 from the second flight while
Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez and
Lois Page clinched the first team point via a 6-4 win from the first flight over Julie Wallace and Noelle Htwar.

The Rock's No. 3 doubles team of
Zoe Heed and
Georgie Lancaster also beat Maria Ojeda and Chloe Abramowitz, 6-2.

All three of SRU's doubles teams had strong regular seasons. Page and Gonzalez Sanchez went 16-11 on the year while Isherwood and del Val del Toro boasted a 14-8 mark with Heed and Lancaster going a near flawless 12-2.

Page produced a 6-4, 6-0 win from the top singles flight against Morris for the second point of the day followed by a 6-2, 6-2 win by Heed over Abramowitz in the sixth slot.

Gonzalez Sanchez then sealed the team victory for Slippery Rock courtesy of a 6-4, 6-1 win in the second flight against Ojeda.

Page, the team's lone senior, enters the postseason with an 18-11 overall record while Heed is 11-6 and Gonzalez Sanchez is 14-12.

Following the match-clinching point, SRU rattled off three more victories as del Val del Toro bested Htwar (6-2, 7-5),
Nuria Martin Lopez defeated Wallace (6-2, 6-3) and Isherwood rallied to beat Heckert 5-7, 6-3, 10-1.

Saturday's win was the 23rd of the season for del Val del Toro which is tied for the ninth most wins in a single-season at SRU. Martin Lopez pushed her singles record to 17-9 and Isherwood joined del Val del Toro as a fellow 20+-match winner at 21-5.

With the regular season now complete, Slippery Rock now turns its attention to the postseason and its quest for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament championship. SRU will host Mercyhurst University for a PSAC Tournament quarterfinal match 2 p.m. April 26 at the SRU Tennis Courts.
