LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - Adriana Gonzalez Sanchez was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Western Division Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
 
Tuesday's honor is the second such of Gonzalez Sanchez's career. Additionally, Slippery Rock has now had four members of its 2021-22 roster named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week this year as Gonzalez Sanchez joins teammates Lois Page (Feb. 28), Teddi Isherwood (March 15) and Gabriela del Val del Toro (March 22) as winners of the weekly honor.
 
Gonzalez Sanchez earned the honor after helping to lead Slippery Rock to a perfect 3-0 record last week with wins over Edinboro University, Goldey-Beacom College and West Chester University. All told, Gonzalez Sanchez was 6-0 across her singles and doubles matches while competing out of the No. 2 singles flight and top doubles position alongside Page.
 
The 2021 PSAC West Athlete of the Year has come on as of late this season by winning five of her last seven singles matches to improve her record to 10-11 on the season overall, including a 9-5 showing against fellow Division II competitors, all the while posting a solid 12-10 mark with Page in doubles play.
 
Winners of three straight matches, Slippery Rock hosts Mercyhurst University 4 p.m. Wednesday at the SRU Tennis Courts in key PSAC West contest.
