SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's lacrosse team recorded its highest scoring output in nearly eight years with a dominant 24-2 victory over Ursuline College Wednesday night in a non-conference game at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The Rock improve to 3-0 with the win, marking the best start for the program since the 2018 team opened the year with a 4-0 record. Ursuline slips to 0-2 with the loss.

Slippery Rock scored four times in the first three minutes and raced out to a 10-0 lead before the end of the first quarter. The Rock would push that advantage out to 16-0 at halftime and cruised in the second half to a 24-2 final score.

Charleigh Rondeau led the individual efforts for SRU by breaking the program record for single-game draw controls, finishing the game with 17. She topped the former SRU record of 15 that was set by Lauren Laubach against Seton Hill in April of 2012. Rondeau also handed out two assists and grabbed one ground ball.

The 24-goal performance marked the first 20+ goal effort by a Slippery Rock team since a 23-10 win over Shorter on March 6, 2016. It was the most goals scored by a Rock team since a 24-5 win over Chowan on March 20, 2014, nearly eight years ago.

The Rock finished with advantages of 41-6 in total shots, 25-5 in draw controls and 19-11 in ground balls. SRU was 6-of-7 on clear attempts and limited the Arrows to 3-of-11 on the clear.

Slippery Rock got points from 14 different players and multiple-point efforts from 12 different players. The Rock combined for 15 assists in the game, their most in a single-game since that 24-5 win against Chowan in 2014.

Camryn Whipple finished with a game-high six points on three goals and three assists.
Emily Benham had a hat trick in the first three minutes and finished with four goals.
Krysta Frankowski tallied her first collegiate points with two goals and two assists and
Brooke Wisniewski added four goals.

Katie Dlugosz chipped in three assists and
Lauren Searles and
Jamie DiCarlo each scored two goals and handed out one assist. SRU had five players record two points, including
Rachel Mahoney and
Eryn Little with two goals,
Emily Mox and
Brooke Kelly with one goal and one assist and Rondeau with two assists.

The Rock's scoring was rounded out by
Molly Buettner with one assist and
Victoria Ziemba with her first collegiate goal.

Gillian O'Rourke picked up the win in goal after making one save in the first 25 minutes of action.
Izzie Sutton played the final 35 minutes and allowed two goals, including one on a free position attempt.

Ursuline got one goal each from Paige Christoff and Jillian Guiles. Liz Hanks took the loss in goal after allowing four goals in the first 4:14. Madison Kettlewood played the final 55:46, allowing 20 goals and recording 12 saves.

The Rock will now shift their focus to the toughest test of the early season with an 11 a.m. road game at No. 20 Limestone Saturday in South Carolina.
